Professional Qualifications.
I have an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and a Diploma in Critical Incident Debriefing. I am a registered member of the BACP and the UKAHPP. I have trained and worked as a Staff Nurse and a Midwife. I am therefore familiar with the medical approach having worked within the NHS and the private sector. I have an understanding of illness and medication and how they can and do effect an individual's life.
I have worked within Special Needs as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant.
I also have experience with working within the community, helping to set up and run various youth groups and support groups for women.
I have experience of working with the 16 plus teenage group through my counselling position in a Further Education College.As a staff nurse and a midwife, and through my current employment as a counsellor within the voluntary sector, I have gained valuable experience working with people who have mental health issues.
